Recovery from Rhinoplasty?

New message

I want to know the exact recovery time of Rhinoplasty and the complications that may crop up during and after surgery. What precautions should I take before surgery?

Dear Alvin,

Thank you for your post.

No special preparation is necessary for Rhinoplasty; there must be no fresh outbreak of acne on the skin of the nose.

The nose cannot be operated on while any inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane is present. Pharmaceuticals containing acetylsalicylic acid (Acylpirin, Aspirin, and Anopyrin etc.) should not be used for 3 weeks before the Nose cosmetic surgery, as they decrease the clotting time of blood.

After your rhinoplasty surgery you will be wearing a plaster splint on your nose, which will be removed on the 14. day after your surgery.

Bruises and the initial swelling will virtually disappear within 14 days of the rhinoplasty surgery. The nose may still swell from time to time for about 2 months. A final, completely stabilised result may be expected after 6–12 months.

Beauty in Prague offers you a FREE e-mail consultation with one of our rhinoplasty surgeons before travelling to Prague.

Hi Alvin, You can see major changes after two weeks of rhinoplasty. However in some cases the swelling of nose may take at least one month to disappear. You will become comfortable with your job within 2–3 weeks. It is better to avoid weight lifting and heavy workouts for at least 4 weeks of period. You can do less intense exercises such as walking from the first week after surgery. Sleeping is best for quick healing. Don't forgot to clear your doubts with your surgeon before doing rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is one of the most common cosmetic treatments. After the procedure, you as a patient may expect to have an aesthetically pleasing nose that has perfect shape and size. You may get back to work 15 days after the procedure and for more strenuous activities, it require about 3 weeks. You have to wait about a year for the final appearance of the nose.
