Is lap band surgery safe?

Any one gone through this or has any ideas on whether lap band surgery really is a last gasp solution to keeping that litle bit of weight off?

I've done some more research and it's a minimally invasive piece of surgery.

Basically the surgery involves a prosthesis (the LAP-BAND) being applied around the stomach in order to create small gastric pouch with a smaller opening to the rest of the stomach.

So in effect restricting the amount you eat – I think.

I would still like to hear anyone's expe­riences though.

Hi guys, reading your questions really made me sad. About 12 months ago I was really down about my weight. I made a decision to stop kidding myself and really start to make the difference with a healthy lifestyle. No alcohol except on a Fridays, eating much more veg than meats, whole grain rice ect…I used sites to find recepies to make tasty health meal and was so suprised how easily the weight dropped of…and no I wasn't hungry. Eating well does not not mean starving yourself!!

I cancelled the paper being deliverd and walked two miles every morning before breakfast to go and collect it..not difficult stuff really..only you can make the changes but only you will know when you have that mcdonalds…how hard it it to take a chopped carrot in your bag for an emergency snack…?

I´m desperate to lose weight. I think gastric bypass surgery is my only option. I´d spent my life putting my husband first. My husband begged me not to have the surgery. I´m shocked. He is calling me selfish! I´m going to have the gastric bypass, whether he likes it or not… I know he is happy other men don´t find me attractive. But I´m terrified that obesity will kill me. My cousin rans a support group for people having obesity surgery, and she suggested a gastric bypass.
