Dear Glenn,
Thank you for your question.
Lower eyelid surgery performed by traditional surgical method can be carried out under a local or general anaesthetic.
Lower eyelid surgery performed with laser – Transconjunctival method is carried out under a general anaesthetic and requires a 1 night stay in the clinic. At the time of your surgery the plastic surgeon will also put on your eyes metal lenses, which will protect your eyes against the laser. The incision is made inside the lower eyelids with a laser or radio scalpel and the fat pads are removed plus any excess skin is removed by the surgeon during the process.
I would like to reassure you there is not a need to be worried about general anaesthesia. Before your surgery you will undergo thorough pre-operative test to make sure you are healthy. The results will also help your Prague plastic surgeon and the anaesthetic to be prepare you and your body better for the surgery.
If you were indicated for Lower eyelid surgery performed with laser – Transconjunctival method and you do not like the idea of undergoing the surgery under the general anaesthesia you can be assessed by your plastic surgeon whether the classical surgical method performed under local anaesthesia would bring satisfactory results for you.
I hope my answer will help you to make the right decision
Tamara
