Hi guys,

My name is Daniele and I'm from Ireland. I have my full tummy tuck scheduled for January ‚09 and I‘m travelling all the way to Prague to have it done. I'm happy with the medical offer I got, I like how the cosmetic surgery clinic is equipped and how it looks like in general, the location is convenient etc. But I'm currently getting a bit nervous about the whole trip .. or maybe it's excitement ? In any case, I thought I would get some support from people who chose to have their cosmetic surgery abroad. I would really appreciate it. :-)

Thank you,

Daniele

Hi Daniele

I have just come back from a tummy tuck with Beauty in Prague and I'm so happy with the results so far. I'm 15 days post and getting around is easier and so is standing straight.

Good luck with your cosmetic surgery in January which is not long now only next month ;-)

I am currently doing my research for my own tummy tuck…have to wait for biopsies on another problem as I may need hysterectomy, so I plan to coordinate having them at the same time.

I am 36, a size 14 and hate, hate hate the way my stomach looks. I want mine to correct the aftermath of three abdominal surgeries with and two pregnancies.

I have a friend who had a tummy tuck and liposuction back in August. She was fine just days after. She said it felt as if she pulled a muscle in her stomach…very uncomfortable, but not unbearable. She was extremely physically fit to begin with, so it may have played a part in the ease of her recovery. Having been through a c-section, I expect to feel badly for more than 5 days…it was more like two weeks before I felt like me again with that.

I had breast augmentation a little over a year ago and the pain following that was pretty extreme as they went under the muscle, so I am expecting something along the same lines as they will be cutting muscle during the tummy tuck as well. I also know that you have to wear a drainage tube for up to a few days following the surgery and your activity is very limited, but looking at my friend in her bathing suit makes it seem well worth a few weeks of discomfort.

Best of luck to you and we can both come back here and compare notes after the fact. ;-)

Hi I am new to the Board and I was thinking about getting a tummy tuck.

I am a 53 year old women that desperately wants her body back to the way it use to look!

Does anyone have any positive or negative information about a tummy tuck? I have read that it is a long recovery time and it is extremely painful. Is it worth it? What are the long term negative affects?

Thanks, :-P Julia

Elaine, IP: 62.96.128.103 | 9.12.2008 11:59:44

I had a full tummy tuck – (scar running hip to hip – along with a new belly button). Best decision of my life!!

What I can't find out is the difference in the POST operative pain between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck?

With the mini, they „just“ whack off the hanging skin; they don't touch the underlying muscles.

OK: so it may not look as flat but with all that skin removed, how fat can your tummy still look? Plus, it's cheaper.

Any mini tummy tucks out there??

Melanie, IP: 91.89.57.251 | 11.12.2008 21:36:21

I am also planning on a January tummy tuck. I have two young children at home and am a bit concerned about the recovery. Those of you who have had the surgery: based on your experience, can you tell me realistically how many weeks after surgery can I expect to be able to pick up my 11-month old baby (in and out of high chair, cot, etc.)? Thanks a lot.

Looking forward to my upcoming surgery…...not expecting a miracle…...just want my pants to fit around the waist without the „muffin roll“….…!!!! :-D

A friend of mine delivered twins a few years ago and she had the same feelings about her saggy post-partum tummy that you are having.

She had a tummy tuck and she has never regretted it. Of course you would want to talk to your doctor about the risks and to weigh it all out, but in my opinion, if it is really bothering you,you should not keep yourself from seriously considering it.

Life is too short not to be happy.

Be happy! :-P Beth xxx

I have been thinking about tummy tuck surgery for over a year, and so glad I finally pulled the trigger. I am a mum of two kids 5 and 7, and had terrible stretch marks across my lower belly and even 1.5" above my belly button. It was so bad I hated taking my shirt off in front of my own husband.

Looking back, I think my biggest fear of all was that I might not make it out from the anasthesia. While the results so far may not make me look like a 20 year old exactly (there's still some evidence of my upper stretch marks), it's still MUCH better than before. :-)

Jamie, IP: 216.57.96.1 | 1.6.2009 22:02:11

:-)I am 46 years old and have finally decided after years of inner debate to get a breast enhancement and a mini tummy tuck.

I plan to take only 11 days off work. My job is sitting only – no strain no issues, it is just difficult for me to get more time off.

What are some thoughts about this? I would appreciate some input.

Beauty in Prague | 2.6.2009 08:40:11

Dear Jamie,

Thank you for your interest in our cosmetic surgery abroad.

Beauty in Prague offers you a free consultation before you make your decision. Simply fill in the Medical Questionnaire and send us the photo of the areas to be treated. Our Prague plastic surgeons will assess your suitability for the treatment and we will get back to you within a few days with their advice.

Usually the combination of these two surgeries – breast augmentation and mini tummy tuck is not advised, as both surgeries are of a major extent. However, once we have the photos we are able to help you and advise you on the best and most effective procedure for you.

We would like to point out that it is very important to give your body enough time to recover. It is necessary to follow the post-operative instructions of your plastic surgeon.

The minimum stay in Prague is advised by our plastic surgeon after completing free email consultation.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Have a great day, Tamara

annamarie, IP: 194.46.248.228 | 3.6.2009 20:21:09

;-)would i be able to get tummy tuck and my bat wings done at the same time does anybody know
thanks annamarie :-?

Beauty in Prague | 11.6.2009 12:11:18

Dear Annamarie,

Thank you for your interest in our affordable cosmetic surgery abroad.

Whether you can undergo upper arm lift and tummy tuck surgery at the same time – this has to be assessed by our Prague plastic surgeons. However, both procedures are considered as major, so you might be advised to have them done separately. It all depends on the extent of the surgery – if you will be for example indicated to mini tummy tuck and a plastic surgeon will think arm liposuction will help to shape your arms it might be possible.

Please apply for our Free cosmetic surgery consultation to find out more.

Have a great day, Tamara

Hi Laura

I am going through Beauty In Prague – It was a decision between Hospital Group & Beauty In Prague – I have had two consultations and both surgeons said the same thing ! Tummy Tuck with muscle tightening.
I have decided to go to Prague mainly due to cost approx £2600 including flights, and that I will have to rest as I have three kids and if I was at home probably would be tempted to do things ! I Have spoken to past patients from Beauty in Prague and they all highly recommend it, but I am still worried lol !
I will be travelling on my own but Tamara from BIP has been great really reassuring and has been answering all my questions as and I when I think of them ! Even the most silliest lol.
Hope this helps ?!
Sam

Hi, i am considering a tummy tuck, liposuction and if possible at the same time a mini facelift and eye (bags, upper and lower) surgery! i wondered if this could be done at the same time. Im very nervouse about it all, but feel it would give me more confidence, i feel thirty, but am 50! The idea of going to bip, sound comforting as i would be going through it on my own and to be honest scared to death,so staying a couple of nights there i think would help. I have had 3 boys, and had to have a c section with all of them, would this hinder the tummy tuck? would appreciate some feed back, thanks 8-O

Leanne, IP: 86.4.149.130 | 8.7.2009 23:04:11

mln, IP: 68.113.251.128 | 14.7.2009 05:24:38

I am trying to decide whether to have gastric bypass or tummy tuck with liposuction. I am approximately 140 lbs. overweight and have a huge apron of fat on on abdomen that hangs to just about mid-thigh. Since this is not covered by my insurance, I am looking for the safest and most affordable way to achieve a better body. Any tips? India? Thailand? Bolivia? Prague? What's the difference? How to you check the credibility of the doctor and hospital?

mln, IP: 68.113.251.128 | 14.7.2009 05:27:35

Can I expect a abdominoplasty to get rid of my fat apron and reduce my hips, thighs and mid section? Or do I need to go through with gastric bypass? I am very concerned that I will not like the after effects of gastric bypass to my lifestyle.

yvonne, IP: 86.150.168.245 | 21.7.2009 04:31:25

i have wonted a tummy tuck for a few years now after having 4 large babys all over 9lb my tummy is in a mess lol i have had a caescarean section so i think i know wot the pain might be like but i was much younger then lol its just the though of going abroad for it that frightens me as i have no way of checking the surgeons crediblity out only by asking people who have been with BIP.
I have checked some of the other places abroad out am BIP seems bt far the best and the price is great so good that with the savings i wont my upper an lower eyelids done at the same time can anyone help me out with my worries please :-|

Hi,
My name is Si, (I'm 22, male and from the U.K). And have recently lost 6 stone (since June) Via healthy eating and exercise! I still have more to lose (maybe a stone or two) and have been going to the gym regular (2–3 times a week) to try tone up and build muscle. But have started noticing that there is definitly going to be excess skin, regardless, and the fatty „overhang“ as most people seem to experience, (also my "man boobs don't seem to be reducing much!) Do you if there is much help available to me on the NHS? It's something that is starting to make me feel depressed and starting to affect my academic work (I'm currently in my second year at university). Any advice about what your clinics can offer is also appreciated, but obviously being a student costs are an issue.
Thank you in advance.

Hi there I am considering having the tummy tuck as I have the bit that hangs over. I have lost a stone and half but still big and have this horrid belly. Do you have to have Liposuction to get rid of the fat in belly then tummy tuck or do they take fat out and make it flat and that is the tummy tuck? I maybe being thick here but I am unsure and confused but if all well I want it done this year maybe October November time 2010 I also want some fat take from my inside legs if I can. I want to bring my husband with me as well has anyone taken anyone with them?

Hope someone can help me.

Hi everyone looking to have a tummy tuck in august 2011 with lipo and muscle tightening if that is possible, i have had 4 boys and i am not 45 and been sick of my stomach and its over hang for a long time, i am also at university and when on placement there is a lot of hardwork although I am choosing to have the procedure when not at uni on summer break but I worry that i may not be healthy enough to back to a job like i do if i have this, how long is the period of time before you can do things like help role patients etc as that can be a strain on your back, plus if anyone lives in hampshire and is also going roughly mid august and wants a travel companion i am happy to be the travel partner and be there when we are both in pain, so please get back to me

hi everyone, my name is Roisin, my sister had a tummy tuck done in ireland 5 days ago and is recoverying well. She expected the pain to be alot sorer than it is so happy days. i havent got the money to get the procedure done in ireland and was looking into getting it done in prague. it is half the price she paid 4500. i have had two children each with cesarian section. with my last child i am left with overhang which takes up my life ,it is a costent feeling of disgust about my appearance. if anyone can give me advice about my decision i would really appreciate it.

Doreen ( Dee ), IP: 195.93.21.33 | 26.4.2011 18:29:42

Hi roisin I think that you should go with beauty in Prague, but obviously you should make your own choice, I have looked into a few of them and here in the Uk it is so expensive to get one done, I looked at some others abroad but beauty in prague seemed the best one so I am going to them in august, wish it was sooner but I have to finish my university year out first and that does not end until mid august, but whatever you do decide I am sure it will be the right choice for you, just do your homework and make sure they are certified plastic surgeons etc.
Dee

I am going august 23rd, and they do generally put 2 people together in accomodation, thats why it is slightly cheaper , I live in Hampshire and happy to meet up with anyone who will be there the same time as me so that we can get to know each other, I will actually arrive august 22nd to have all the pre op tests etc so anyone feel free to get back to me.

Kat, IP: 89.242.86.167 | 2.6.2011 15:21:31

Hi all, Just been reading through all the post, I am having mine done next week! so really nervous now.. Since the birth of all my children my body has undergone some real changes from C section to Hysterectomy, all muscle definition totally gone to pot! So I have finally taken the plunge… I am looking forward to seeing my new tummy afterwards but that really hasn't stopped me from worrying…I am not sure what type of tummy tuck i am having as Dr Prof. Ales Nejedly MD who is doing the surgery is unsure judging by the photos sent so this will be decided when I get there. If anyone has any last minute comments about their experience or just in general they would be greatly appreciated.

I will keep you all posted on what happens including all details of care before and after and how the op went.

Until then take care…x :-?

Hi all, I am now 5 days post op. The op went really well!
I was greeted at the airport by a lovely lady who had my name on a board, they helped my with my luggage and took me and my (husband to be) to the penthouse apartment 5 minutes away from the clinic. night before the op we went out rather early for a meal as I couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight, the following morning i was to be met by the driver who took me to the clinic, once there i was made to feel very welcome and all the staff are totally amazing at keeping you calm.
I had to fill in a few questionnaires based on my medical history then had all the necessary pre-op examinations, they were very thorough, and very quick, no waiting around giving you time to contemplate and working yourself into a tiz, I then met with my surgeon Prof. Ales Nejedly (Head Surgeon) he was very nice and explained what procedure i was going to have once he saw me, (this was undecided previously from the photos)
I was then taken to do my payment for the operation, then taken into the area where i was given a gown and told to remove all clothing, jewellery, this was in a little room seperate to to the ward, this was to maintain the constant sterile environment that the clinic are very fastidious about, (something you don’t get in England). I was then met again by Prof. Ales Nejedly who then drew lines on my tummy indicating where the operation will take place on my body.
I was then taking into the operation theatre and given my anaesthetic.
When i woke I had discomfort with my eyes, this was due to the anaesthetic, but the staff reassured me, looked after me and comforted me and all was well a few hours later.
I stayed in the clinic for three days due to the extent of the operation which was full tummy tuck (hip to hip) with Liposuction on hips and flanks. the pain from this is very mild, the sensation is tight and you have to walk like a little old lady with an imaginary walking stick.
I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and surgeon at the clinic and my tummy looks great.
I did have a panic attack on the fourth day as this was the first time that i had a shower and saw the scar, but this was due to the fact I hadn’t really seen it previously as i had been lying down when the dressing were being changed. The staff were amazing at getting me back to the clinic being it was on a Sunday, and performing checks to verify all was actually good! And would like to say Thankyou to all the five staff involved in reassuring me.
But now I am so very happy and can’t wait till all the swelling and bruising has gone down.
I hope that this helps all those out there on the verge on getting it done or even considering it…All I can say is Please don’t worry, everything will be fine, and be very PATIENT and this is what speeds the recovery process.
Just to let you know, prior and after the surgery I took Arnica Montana, this i believe has helped my healing process.
Many thanks for reading and good luck to everyone!
DEKUJI VAM TO ALL STAFF!

HERE I AM AGAIN!!
Would you believe i first posted in jan 09,and i am still thinking about a tummy tuck??
I have AGAIN sent off my photos and form and received my package details ,the surgeon who is a woman,(i am very happy about that!)said she would not be able to tell if i needed tummy tuck with muscle tightening or T.T with large lipo, until she see me,i personally think i need the lipo ,as my muscle aren't too far apart, or it feels like that anyway…

soooo I am planning to go in oct 11, hopefully a friend will come with me, i am just a bit worried about how i will feel after, will i feel totally down in myself ,that it has come to this to get my body into shape, and feel i am a bad example to my two girls that
despite me always telling them ,it dosent matter what you look like its whats inside that matters i go off and cut off part of my self?????????
I have been thinking about this for 6 years since my 2st child by c-section
I have broken up with their dad and my self esteem and confidence have taken a battering, i know a tummy tuck wont change my life but will it make me feel better about my self and my body and maybe give me a bit more confidence? Thanks for your feedback and support its great that we can share our fears ,delight and storys here!!

Hi all, Update.. I am now five weeks post op, scar has healed amazingly well, using. ‚Bepanthan‘ for four weeks now this has helped with any irritation as well as helping the heal the scar.
The fluid has now gone after some antibiotics from GP, swelling almost gone as well, bruising completely dissipated only a few days to go before going it alone without my safety blanket
It has been a journey of extreme patience and frustration but now the end is in sight and I can then marvel at my new tummy and new tummy button.
I can now bend over and paint my toe nails without winding myself
In over twenty years I have not seen my toes whilst standing straight and looking down, Now I Can!
I Hope my journey has inspired you.
All I can say is I wish that I had done it sooner! This will now be my last entry… Should you require any information…don't be afraid to ask.

Take care all and good luck
Kathleen

Suzie, IP: 212.183.128.14 | 26.10.2011 16:21:12

Dear Christine

hi suzie ,
And thanks for the well wishes well today im day 3 post op and feel great they took my drains out yesterday and albeit very uncomfortable it was quick and painless,i saw my tummy yesterday for the 1st time and have to say WOW….…really envious and proud…there was an added extra as well the dr had to remove an hernia i knew nothing about !!!! anyway i was realeased from the clinic and one of the team did a little shopping for me wich i awas happy about if there is any down side to the experiance so far was the way i felyt i was just dumped when i got back to my apartment (but in fairness thats only because i was a little anxious for the 1st time evr ) i was told to drink plenty and rest wich is a bit weird as i have to do my own tea and drinks and the more i drunk the more i needed the toilet but anyway im aching a little today so maybe the bruising is coming out or the matress is too softbut as for my op and my tummy all is excellant hope this helps everyone i did say i would be brutally honest xx :-D

laura, IP: 94.112.241.186 | 28.10.2011 12:17:37

Hi All,well ,here i am a well 3 days postop..cant believe i am saying that!!
As Christine said we met on tuesday morning at the clean and professional clinic ,did our preop, bloods, met the surgeon and the the looong few hours before the op,it all went completly smoothly, everyone was lovely and after the op which i was scared and very nervous before,i was in hardly any pain, it was great to share the room and experiences with christine beside me, iam back in my apt since yesterday and my friend has just left so on my own now, but im ok with that,Christine i am sorry to hear that you felt a bit abandoned at the apt,i can see how daunting that would be after 3 days in the clinic and being a bit sore and stiff…
The worst part for me is the coughing and sneezing!!very sore but not the end of the world…to sum it all up so far i am delighted with the whole experience, my tummy looks fab…i feel fine and have hardly no pain…so no regrets from me…in hindsight the worst part was the decision and the lead up to the surgery…so ladies all i can say is go for it…every one is different and will have different experiences..i hope the recovery will be fine and i wont suffer from too much swelling in the weeks to come…!!
